Equilateral Utopia

A fence in the landscape is a marker of property, production, and values. It also an object which you lean on, talk across, and meet at. When one is lost in the woods, it is advised to follow any fence you happen upon. Illuminated, the ubiquitous wood fence becomes otherworldly, and its triangular formation calls to mind a spacecraft – a vessel. Inspired by the history of utopian communities in the Rochester area, we intend for Equilateral Utopia to function as such – a meeting point, something to lean against, to talk across, to wriggle into, a place to climb aboard.

Proposal for the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, w/ GRNASFCK, 2017.
